On Wednesday night, a family of four were killed after their car crashed into a tree and burst into flames. According to Patch, the crash occurred on Pleasanton’s Foothill Road, at a spot where two lanes merge after a sharp curve. The car struck a pole before hitting a tree and catching on fire. Police said that speed may have been a factor in the crash, but do not believe that alcohol or foul play were involved.

The Foothill Road and Moeller Ranch Drive area were closed in both directions until Thursday morning. Residents took to social media to note that many drivers speed down the curvy and tree-filled Foothill Road. Over the years, there have been numerous fatal crashes on the road.
