Over the weekend, a high-speed crash occurred on the southbound 5 in Chula Vista near Palomar Street. According to the Times of San Diego, a woman with three passengers changed lanes to avoid a BMW quickly approaching her from behind. The BMW ended up swerving into her car, hitting the front end of the driver’s side and sending her car across all lanes of traffic, where it then hit a tree, rolled back into traffic, and caught fire. The driver was ejected and died at the scene.

Witnesses claim the BMW was racing a white Ford Mustang with a black stripe, and that the Mustang left the scene. No other injuries were reported, and California Highway Patrol is investigating the crash at the time of this report.
